The GeriMedRisk clinical team consists of clinician-educators from McMaster University, University of Toronto, Western University, Bruyère Institute in Ottawa and the University of Waterloo. Together, we have:
Trained 101 resident physicians in digital health and interdisciplinary care of older adults with dementia and complex medical and mental health problems;
Created the first Clinical Fellowship in Geriatric Psychiatry and Clinical Pharmacology in Canada at McMaster University;
Provided education on safe prescribing through multiple modalities reaching more than 22,000 Ontario clinicians;
Developed evidence-based, older person focussed drug information to enable safe prescribing
Hosted online rounds accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or the College of Family Physicians of Canada with a goal to promote safe prescribing to clinicians across Ontario for more than three years; and
Developed evidence-based drug information on COVID-19 therapies to prevent adverse drug events and harmful drug-drug interactions among older adults. These online materials along with our drug summaries and infographics have been accessed more than 9000 times to date.
